Thanks for posting this.  Just a harmless cruise purported to be "Surrounding Australia".  It isn't the first time.  Can't imagine it myself, 3 ships surrounding Australia.  The Chinese were here in 2019 entering Sydney. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...y-stopover.

So the thought that this is unprecedented as outlined is misleading.  Live firing exercises off the coast happen quite often.  (Been a part of that back in the navy days).  We and our allies have live firing ranges (land based) targeted by warships and aircraft so I can't see a problem with the Chinese firing some 250 miles out in the pacific.

For some reason a couple of ships exercising their freedom of navigation causes drama.  

This is regardless of our ships and aircraft doing the same in the South China Sea.
