To be honest, I consider what other folks call "Mainland China" to actually be "Taiwan West". It's just that Taiwan West is currently in a state of rebellion against it's legitimate government, the Nationalist Chinese. The nationalists were there first - it's the communists who have rebelled against the legitimate government ...
