Florida is a right to work state and a at will state.
which means,
the right to work means that you can't be fired for joining or not joining a union or be fired for going on a lawful strike.
but being a at will state means a employer can fire you for just about any lawful reason, and if they have no contract there is no contractual obligation to keep them from being fired. plus SCOTUS has ruled (don't remember the case) that companies have the right to hire replacement workers to keep running / stay open and don't have to rehire union workers that have been fired, all they have to is promise that when jobs become available they will be the first to be considered and or hired.
and seeing how Our Governor looks out for our state, i wouldn't put it past him to pull a Reagan and encourage companies that will be affected by the strike to put a boot in their ass and hire permanent replacement workers that they can find.
so striking STEVEDORES better beware.
there are 10 major ports in fl, there are four of them on the gulf coast, port st petersberg, port of manatee the closest major port to the panama canal in fl, port tampa, and port of panama city and then you have to figure in all the minor ports which are growing like the port of pensacola.
