Hey! That's no conversion, it was a factory model.
More common was the single cab truck. They used to be everywhere.
Did you know that on both the single and double cab trucks, both sides and the tailgate could be folded down and latched to create a flatbed? Cool huh?
There were only 2000 crew cabs imported into the U.S. for the model year I had. I bought it used from a guy in Nevada but I can't remember what I paid for it, I'm thinking maybe $2500 but they're worth a small fortune now at 10x that price for a junker. I even had a custom built 2180 cc engine with dual downdraft Dellorto's that I never got the chance to install.
Not mine but I wish I still had it. There was only one door for the crew compartment. Groovy indeed!
I kind of gave up on this project when I got divorced in 1997 and left it in my ex-husband's shop. He ended up selling it and the motor. I was sad and now he regrets selling it knowing how much they're worth. Now all I've got is a 42 year old Toyota.

Not brave but thanks. It's kind of old news to the folks that have been here a while and stuff that happened a very long time ago. Seems more like a movie I watched somewhere than things that happened in my real life
For you I'll share some of the rest of the story after 1967...things worked out. By 15 (1970) I was understood by my parents and living as a girl except for school where I was just an anomalous weirdo and after that, just your regular everyday person. Have had an amazing life with many opportunities, raised a daughter that just turned 50 as mom and a grandma to her now 27 y/o son I just spoke to yesterday. Married, divorced, yada yada.
