August 14, 1945: WWII ends after the Japanese announced their intent to surrender, the U.S. Navy revealed that it had been planning the most intense and destructive concentration of carrier airpower in history called Operation Downfall by launching more than 10,000 sorties in support of the invasion of Japan. This invasion operation would have dwarfed D-Day. Luckily, X-day was cancelled and instead Operation Magic Carpet was rolled out.

TRUST: The meaning "businesses organized to reduce competition; an organization for the control of several corporations under one direction" by a set of majority shareholders in all of them, is a legal sense attested by 1877 which exploded as a U.S. political issue, hence trust-buster, recorded by 1903.
