In most jurisdictions in the US, merely spitting ON a cop will get you arrested for felony assault, and in some of the more entertaining one, it will get you arrested for felony assault AND attempted murder.

Any employee spitting IN food should, at a minimum, be cooling their heels in jail for felony assault. Just firing them and leaving them to roam the streets and get another job is not nearly enough.
