July 7, 1957: a 63-foot Redstone missile is hoisted into position for display in New York's Grand Central Terminal. To this day, there is a hole in the ceiling near a gold-leaf depiction of the constellation of Pisces that marks the spot where cables secured the missile.

July 7, 1965: The 1st episode of the BBC TV series Tomorrow's World was broadcast. It examined new and possible future developments in science and technology. It ran for 38 years until it was cancelled in early 2003 and last episode aired July 16 2003. The Tomorrow's World title was revived in 2017 as an umbrella brand for BBC science programming. The show was created by Glyn Jones to fill a half-hour slot in the 1965 BBC summer schedule. Jones and his wife conceived the show's name the night before the Radio Times went to press.
