i had to take my mom to the emergency room for a cat scratch that became infected after she broke up a fight between two semi feral or what my brothers and i call 50/50 cats about 4 months ago, because her primary care doctor had retired and the one who took her place wasn't accepting new patients yet.
got into the emergency room pretty quick, and the nurses did their thing, hooking up all the stuff, waited about 30 mins for the doctor and when he came in first thing he did was start rattling off all kinds of blood tests, xrays and wanted to admit her saying they wanted to keep her under observation, without even looking at the scratch on her arm. then he glanced at it for less than a minute after she said no to being admitted. first thought i had was he's padding the bill.
we were there less than 4 hours. when the bill came in for her co pay, it was 332 bucks, her primary insurance only paid 90 bucks, and medicare paid 365 bucks the total bill was just shy of 12,000 bucks. they waved the rest we still haven't been told why so much or why they waved it. all she wanted was a Tetanus shot and antibiotics.
i did some looking around our area, and found a doctor that does office visits for 60 bucks and will be your primary if you want and will take cash. we're all thinking he will be our new doctor.
mainstream health care is a scam being pulled by all parties involved.
Before a healthcare provider touches you, they log into a computer. Almost all their time and attention is on the computer screen. They enter the data required from whatever software program they are commanded to data fill, and the computer tells them what to do and what not to do.
If the computer says, "You are fine, go home." Regardless of how much you persist, they will take the computer's determination over yours every time.
Coming from a large family, having to make a family decisions always was determined by one factor, "He who pays, says."
Health care is no longer determined by what is best for the patient. It is not about a cure. It is about how much money can they make off of you vs how much money will they lose by treating you.
There are too many Boomers, and too many profit from our demise.

Quote:And though their current wealth has been dragged down by not one but two “once-in-a-lifetime” economic crises during their most impactful career years, Millennials stand to inherit over $68 trillion from Baby Boomer and early Gen X parents by the year 2030, setting them up to potentially be the most wealthy generation in U.S. history.
Generation Z isn’t far behind, projected to hit $33 trillion in income by 2030 — that’s more than a quarter of all global income — and pass Millennials in spending power the year after. 3
