it's not just insurance companies, it's doctors, emergicare, testing labs, hospitals and anything else you can name that can be billed for healthcare.
i had to take my mom to the emergency room for a cat scratch that became infected after she broke up a fight between two semi feral or what my brothers and i call 50/50 cats about 4 months ago, because her primary care doctor had retired and the one who took her place wasn't accepting new patients yet.
got into the emergency room pretty quick, and the nurses did their thing, hooking up all the stuff, waited about 30 mins for the doctor and when he came in first thing he did was start rattling off all kinds of blood tests, xrays and wanted to admit her saying they wanted to keep her under observation, without even looking at the scratch on her arm. then he glanced at it for less than a minute after she said no to being admitted. first thought i had was he's padding the bill.
we were there less than 4 hours. when the bill came in for her co pay, it was 332 bucks, her primary insurance only paid 90 bucks, and medicare paid 365 bucks the total bill was just shy of 12,000 bucks. they waved the rest we still haven't been told why so much or why they waved it. all she wanted was a Tetanus shot and antibiotics.
i did some looking around our area, and found a doctor that does office visits for 60 bucks and will be your primary if you want and will take cash. we're all thinking he will be our new doctor.
mainstream health care is a scam being pulled by all parties involved.
