March 28, 1942: the destroyer HMS Campbeltown (the former USS Buchanan) rammed the gates of the Normandie dry dock at St.Nazaire in German-occupied France in a daring raid known as Operation Chariot. Commandos then disembarked to destroy machinery and other targets of opportunity. One of the greatest acts of heroism in the war.


The delayed-action explosives hidden on Campbeltown detonated hours later, knocking the dock out of service for the remainder of the war and killing several senior German officers who were touring the ship.

Of the 612 men who undertook the raid, 228 returned to Britain, 169 were killed and 215 became prisoners of war. German casualties included over 360 dead, some of whom were killed after the raid when Campbeltown exploded. To recognise their bravery, 89 members of the raiding party were awarded decorations, including five Victoria Crosses. After the war, St Nazaire was one of 38 battle honours awarded to the commandos. The operation has been called "the greatest raid of all" in British military circles.

The 1952 film "Gift Horse" aka Glory at Sea was loosely based on the actual raid undertaken in 1942 by HMS Campbeltown.


March 28, 1946: Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz and General of the Army Dwight Eisenhower were awarded honorary degrees from the University of Richmond, Virginia. The two warriors toasted each other with mint juleps.

On same day there was an article posted on a Army study conducted by "Jedi Knights" that called for a US occupation of Israel, of 20,000 well-armed troops to enforce peace plan. Well, we know that plan never happened and instead got 9/11.

Over the decades, Cynthia McKinney flew far off the reservation by promoting a 2000+ year old myth. On September 11, 2023, McKinney promoted a livestream called "Can Black People and White People Work Together to Defeat Our Common Enemy" with the Star of David, indicating that the "common enemy" is Jews. The livestream was to be hosted by Ayo Kimathi (aka Irritated Genie), the author of Jews Are the Problem and described by the ADL as "antisemitic and anti-LGBTQ+ Black nationalist extremist" and David Duke, a former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard and anti-semite. In the livestream, Kimathi explicitly advocated for ties with White nationalists to actively eradicate "the Jew."
I don't have much use for the ADL but there it is.

Fides was the goddess of trust, faithfulness, and good faith (bona fides) in ancient Roman religion. She was one of the original virtues to be considered an actual religious divinity.


She was also worshipped under the name Fides Publica Populi Romani ("Public (or Common) Trust of the Roman People"). She is represented as a young woman crowned with an olive or laurel wreath, holding in her hand a turtle-dove, fruits or grain, or a military ensign. She wears a white veil.

Rome’s second king, Numa Pompilius began the annual rites to Fides Publica (Public Trust) on October 1. Her temple in Rome held the state treaties. One of the oldest of Roman Gods, Fides holds the same place of importance with Jupiter Optimus Maximus (Jupiter the Best and Brightest) and Dius Fidius, the God of Oathtaking.
