Just so folks understand, one does not have to be a Federal Agent to be a Federal "agent". Paid informants and provocatuers are also "agents" of the government when they act according to government orders, they just don't have a shiny badge, a fancy ID card, or a paycheck signed by the President...
This is an example of Federal Prosecutors hiding a lie beneath a surface of "truth". They probbly learned that from the Chinese they are working with. Note how they specifically say "Epps have never been a government employee". You can do government work without having a government employee ID or number. Some folks in my family have been doing that for years.I was once in a position where the US Marshall Service wanted to deputize me but leave me in a contractor position, thus denying me any government benefits - or accountability. That's one way they skirt around issues of official accountability...
