Recently obtained information corroborates the rumor that Japan had successfully detonated it's first Atomic Bomb test in Korea (which it occupied at the time) 3 days before the end of the war.
I saw an in depth investigation on this last year on YT but it has since been taken down due to copyright called
Japan's final secret - The Atom Bomb
It featured young Japanese investigative journalists who were in possession of newly uncovered government documents detailing the events and the scientists involved.
They went and were granted interviews by these scientists who were filmed reading these documents with surprise and asking "How did you find these documents after all this time?" they smiled proudly and confirmed all the details in the documents were true.

So let that sink in for a moment. Given just a little more time the final days of WWII could have ended with the US and JAPAN hurling Nukes at each other!
