When ABC was having difficulty selling ad time for THE DAY AFTER 40 years ago, Kansas's Division of Travel and Tourism pitched a tourism commercial to the network. "We were never contacted again by ABC."







40 years ago this month, Volvo cars were having a post-apocalyptic moment... The 1981 Volvo GL [245] in THE DAY AFTER and the 1974 Volvo 145 in TESTAMENT (1983)...the safest car in the world!!



In TESTAMENT, the name of the school play that was being performed was "The Pied Piper of Hamelin". 

The TESTAMENT film was originally shot as a made-for-TV movie. Paramount executives were so impressed with it that they released it in theaters as a feature. The cast sued the producers for higher pay, claiming they were paid television salaries and not feature film salaries. The case was settled out of court. The film was endorsed by SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and the DGA (Directors Guild of America). However, the production was not sanctioned by IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) though everyone was paid a union scale, no one received overtime.
