Maybe. I've never heard of him before, which just means he was not bright enough on my radar or impactful enough on me or mine out here in the sticks to research him. To me he's a nothing and a nobody, and what he rants against doesn't mean much, as it appears to have not had much of an impact on anyone, or policy. If he's all that you say, he still won't have much impact, even as speaker, because he'll get universally ignored or actively worked against. In short, if he's all that, then he'll be just as ineffective going forward and he has been getting to where he is.
Quote:The Mike Johnson, former senior attorney and spokesperson for the Alliance Defending Freedom, an extremist religious rights group dedicated to dismantling LGBTQ+ freedoms and outlawing abortion that has been designated a hate group by the SPLC and is arguably the most extreme anti-LGBT legal organization in the United States?
The Mike Johnson who as recently in a speech this April downplayed the concept of the separation of church and state?
See, there's where they go off the rails. History proves to us that religion and law do not mix well - just look at the Catholic Inquisition or modern day shari'a law among the Muslims. Didn't work for the Catholics, ain't working for the Muslims, and won't work for the Christians. It's a dead horse before the rider even gets on.
Quote:The Mike Johnson who was one of the chief architects of trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election?
Seems like if he'd held that position, I'd have heard of him. I was pretty keen on invalidating the last elections and forcing new ones after I saw what I saw. Still never heard of him during all that time - maybe I was yelling to loudly to hear him whispering.
Quote:The Mike Johnson who argued the case for building the (Noah’s) Ark Encounter Project that subsequently received $18 million in tax incentives.
I've never heard of that project, but it seems true to form. That's what politicians these days - both Democrat and Republican - do best. They steal money out of the public coffers for their pet private projects.
Quote:Maybe a “nobody” to you but the last thing this country needs is another extremist in a position of power.
Which is why I won't be throwing my hat into the ring. I'm the last of the last that the world needs at the moment.
.But this Johnson character, I really don't expect great things from him, neither "good" no "bad" from either my perspective or yours. if he's all that extreme, he'll get pushed and pounded by the Democrat major minority into ineffectual oblivion.
He might be the next one in the Star Chamber docks, right after Trump.
