There are good parents out there.
I just congratulated a young parent for the actions of his child.
I was watching the drinks so I could refill them because there were a lot of children in line, and the drinks were going fast.
I saw an elderly woman of color waiting her turn after the children. One of the children was about 11 years old, when his turn came to get his drink, he asked the lady to come and take his position in line, so she could get her drink before it was all gone.
I stepped in and told everyone that there was plenty to go around, as I refilled the canisters.
I gave the young man and the lady their drinks, and told the young boy how pleased I was of his act of generosity and his gentlemanly behavior.
I know the young man's father. The father is drop dead gorgeous and would be labeled pure toxic masculinity. So I told him what I had witnessed. Two of his other sons were with him when I told him about their brother.
All of them were beaming, when I walked away, I heard one of his sons say to him. "Now I know why you always tell us the women come first." "It is a good thing to be a gentleman."
I laughed to myself. And it reminded me that there is still a lot of hope left for our children if we stop screwing up. We have done a piss poor job of preparing them.
