This is one of the older Why File presentations about places I did not know existed of or their gruesome reported history. Not being much of a paranormal kind of guy I still found these stories interesting...Enjoy.

So the only place I've been on that list is Waverly Hills as it is only a mile or two from us. We went on a night time paranormal tour (pretty sure I posted some pics at the old RN website). It actually wasn't scary at all, however I did have sort of an odd experience there when I looked into a room and saw a bed with a pile of personal belongings on it and thought I saw someone standing in there but when I grabbed Kdog to look there was nothing but a pile of dirt and trash scattered about (no bed or furniture at all)- though I think it's fair to note that sometimes I have visions of the past in certain places. 

In all honesty I have been to some crazy haunted places that scared the hell out of me and actually lived in a few of them but they aren't famous places and you will never hear about them on any Youtube videos.

Ummm...Thanks for the thread...I've never been to any of those locations...I did however visit many purportedly haunted places hoping to see...or converse with...or simply witness the paranormal...

Unfortunately...all the things "that go bump in the night"...must have been on vacation when I visited...I never felt a chill or had any goosebumps or felt the hair on the back of my neck standing on tip toe...nor did I feel any disembodied hands groping my nether regions...(much to my chagrin)...

It was good times exploring these supposed haint haunted locations...just kinda wished I had more of supernatural twist to share...

I think it's fair to note that sometimes I have visions of the past in certain places.

You sound like my Aunt Mary. She wound up moving to a place in Florida called Cassadaga. Only place she could find where she said she felt comfortable living. You wanna fill up your bag of strange stories to tell? Go there and hang around for a few days. Weirdest place I've ever been to.

I have a friend that lives in Chicago on the old site of The Dunning Asylum !!

The main building is gone and now a small shopping center and homes and condos.

Many of the he 38000 bodies are still under the new homes and condos behind the shopping center, for several square blocks. 

And yup, there's lots of "hauntings" in that area all the time for real !!!!

The whole several square blocks are very eerie and clamy !! Especially the small park that serves as the "memorial" !!!! 

There is still an active mental facility a few block behind the old site !!! (The Chicago-Read Mental Health Center)

Thanks but no thanks! I have enough weird stories to last several lifetimes already! lol!

Did I mention we have a female ghost in our apartment? Even moving halfway across the country didn't stop my lifetime of weird episodes, but at least this particular ghost likes to bother Kdog more than she bothers me.

Cool thread, thanks for posting.  I haven't been here in a really long time because my life is so complicated and busy.  But tonight I just thought I'd check in.  I love threads like this.  I've been to some purportedly haunted places before and nothing seemed even remotely frightening and I lived in Gettysburg in a really old house for 16 years and nothing.  However, I did grow up in a haunted house, or maybe it's more correct to say that I was haunted as a young boy in the '60s.  That house wasn't old at all at the time so I can only assume it was me.  I experienced some really scary shit there that traumatized me pretty bad.  Anyway, thanks!  Glad this place is still rocking and I can come in when I get a minute and feel like I'm home.
