Off course , I very much doubt us complaining will make an ounce of difference, just like voting is pre-determined , imo, so is every corrupt law passed.

There are a lot of thing under the "protect the kids" banner that are pure bullshit, some I personally feel are a little more important but I won't elaborate. People who know me know what I'm talking about.

Weird how I couldn't find any links at that site to the actual text of the bills in question. Am I just supposed to take their word for the bills being bad? I ask because there really wasn't much in the reasons they mentioned that would make me mad enough to call a congress critter. Maybe if I could read the bills themselves, it might spark a "HELL no! Not on my watch!" kind of reaction in me.

There was loads of stuff on how the bills might affect LGBTQ folks, and "marginalized communities", but not much in the way of how it would affect average folks like me. I mean, while I DO live in a "marginalized community" it doesn't mean much because that community is mostly white, so no one cares. Probably a factor in why it's "marginalized" to begin with, eh?

So, if they want to light a fire under my ass for real, they'll need to provide a little more personalization... and being able to read the bills themselves might be a good start on that.

Virginia has one of those online ID laws. Generally, if I run up against one of the ID blocks, I just leave the site. They don't really need to have any information on me, now do they? If they are requiring it, there might just be something there that I don't want to see anyhow, and I'll be damned if I'm going to ID myself so they can follow me around with that bullshit.

On the other hand, if it's a site I really, REALLY think I need to get to, I just bypass their ID requirements by coming at them from elsewhere in the world, some place that doesn't require ID. No problem.

The only real messaging system I ever used was Facebook Messenger. Recently, they started end to end encrypting it, and apparently put a PIN on it... and neglected to tell me what that PIN was for my own damned messages with the net result that I can't even get into my own messages.

So I just stopped using it. Anyone that needs to talk to me has my phone number anyhow. I've no use for a message service that the message service can get into, but I can't. That kind of a message service is what security professionals call "a false sense of security".

Bought my kids bikes for Christmas. Local government just passed a law requiring paid bike "licenses" to ride them in public. Cops are now issuing citations...even to kids?

I'm in the U.S. Bought three basic Huffy bikes for my kids this past Christmas from the local big box store. Got three of these in the mail today.
The local government apparently just passed a law requiring all bikes to have paid "licenses" to be ridden in public. When I called to confirm, they said cops have been issuing citations, even to kids.
They also said it was primarily to help with stolen bikes. But...it's a plastic sticker that can be peeled off.
The store apparently fills out the license application "as a courtesy to customers" without asking and sends the info directly to the local government. I asked what would happen if I'd bought the bikes out of state or they were a gift. They said licenses are mailed to the purchaser's address, and if out-of-state, the purchaser would have to "transfer" each license to the actual owner...for an additional fee of course.

Right now, they are hyping up the bicycle trails around here, and those fat tire bikes are really popular. No need for a license or permit of any kind as long as there is no motor driving it. 

The counties around here allow you to drive golf carts, quads, and motor bikes along the main road if you stay to the edge of the road at or below 25 MPH. Technically, the state requires a driver's license, or permit, for operating any motorized vehicle, except if you drive on private property or down the ditch easement of the roads, on the shoulder (more or less).

Almost the same for boats. If your boat is less than 11 feet, and has no sails or a motor, no need to register it or have an operator's license. I believe you may need a driver's license for some motor boats, not sure though.

From what I understand it would mean you'd need to show an id or face scan ,everytime you want to use the internet or just certain sites? I admit I did not read alot about it, nothing about 'marginalized' people.  Imo this will affect us all in negative ways (loss of privacy and freedom).

Becuase it will start with 'just certain sites' to ' protect the kids' , but then as we all know , these things progress. And before you know it , you can't go online without showing id/face scan everytime. And it would be near impossible to say, I'll just go without . Even if that would work for work and fun , in my case it would not work for contact with family abroad . That often involves sending things over email etc.
