There were likely damned few blacks in all of the UK at that time - you could probably have counted them all on the fingers of one hand.

I reckon they must be trying to cover all the bases, and failing dismally. There were no black Native American tribes either, no more than there have ever been black Hebrew tribes.

It also included cases where the data of Afghan nationals who worked with the British military, victims of child sexual abuse and thousands of disability claimants were compromised.

The Cabinet Office investigation uncovered a series of recurring weaknesses in how sensitive data is handled across Whitehall and other departments. One of the most significant failings was the lack of adequate controls over ad hoc downloads and bulk exports of sensitive information, leaving personal records vulnerable to error or misuse.

I seem to be signing a lot of petitions against the actions of this government and today is no different , a petition was started a couple of months ago when the first sniffs of Starmer's Digital ID plan started to surface and now it has been confirmed the petition in opposition to it has taken off.

Open to British citizens only the yougov anti ID card Petition is Here , currently standing at 914,995 signatures and rising fast.... 916,277 signatures since I typed this line.

We think this would be a step towards mass surveillance and digital control, and that no one should be forced to register with a state-controlled ID system. We oppose the creation of any national ID system.

I fail to see how a digital ID scheme will help combat illegal aliens. They are already "undocumented", so how is it supposed to smoke them out by ... not giving them documents?

There is apparent concern that they are making an illegal living in "the black economy", which I presume is what we call "the black market" here. If they are in the black market, they are, by definition, already off the grid and doing fine. How is refusing them work in the regular economy going to put a dent in that? They are already not working in it, as they make their living from the black market. So how is that supposed to smoke them out?

We have a saying around here - "locks is for honest folks". "Dishonest" folks - those who just don't care to participate in the societal hamster wheel -  will always find a workaround. Digital ID is the same. Folks who are already living without ID are not going to give the least of a shit that they don't have any of the new forms of ID - they've already mastered living "undocumented", without any ID. This would only apply to folks who give a shit about having ID... you know, "honest folks"... and the "honest folks" will be the only ones regulated and controlled by their digital IDs. It does nothing against illegals or anyone else who doesn't care about having an ID.

And what about old coffin-dodgers like me? You know, folks who have no "smart phone". How in the hell are they going to give us digital IDs - are they going to give us the phone to carry them around on, too?

ETA - I know these things because (in spite of the fact that I was born here) I lived, worked, and thrived here in the US for 10 years - TEN YEARS - "undocumented". No driver's license, no social security card, no birth certificate, no entry in Census Records, no nothing. I actually skipped two censuses, I think, just by not being where census takers were, and having no address of my own, and no credit to be tracked by credit bureaus. I still have no credit, and I still don't miss it. I still have no "smart phone" for the same reason - I don't care to assist folks in tracking me.. I have no bank account, and don't miss that, either. I deal in cash, and cash only... or the occasional trade. What I learned from that was that I could be any damned body I said I was, and no one, NO ONE, could prove otherwise. Fuck them, and the digital ID's they're trying to ride in on.

The ID I have now is not even a "Real ID ™ ". When I went to get an ID, They wanted to charge me 30 bucks more for a "Real ID ™ ". So I said "what would it benefit me?" and they said "You can't get on to airplanes, Federal court houses, or military bases without one." Well, I don't want to get on to any airplanes any more - the lines are too long, and I'd rather drive than wait - the last time I was on a military base was in 2010, and I don't expect to ever need to get on one again, and if the Feds ever want me in a Federal court house, I'm sure they can find a way to get me there - probably in handcuffs - in spite of my lack of a "Real ID ™ ". So I wasn't about to pay another 30 bucks for an ID that differed from normal IDs only in having a tiny blue star in the upper corner. I've never seen a tiny blue star that I'd pay 30 dollars for.

The "it will help against illegal working" argument is spurious because the black economy don't care , the question I have is would illegal migrants also be required to have ID.

Starmer want's this in before the end of this Parliament , no digital ID no vote ? , no job , NHS treatment and on and on.

Personally I doubt Digital ID will happen , it's opposed many Labour MPs along with other main parties in the House , I doubt the Lords , who will have to approve and new legislation , will give it an easy ride either. 

The petition has broken the Million mark now at 1,035,113 signatures and rising.

More than 600,000 signed the petition opposing Digital ID cards between yesterday evening and this morning with 1,682,351 signatures so far , Labour have no mandate to introduce Digital ID on the British people as it wasn't a Manifesto pledge and only 35% of the electorate voted for them.

The Labour party conference starts this weekend , there may be blood on the carpet at the end of it.

On the eve of the Labour party conference comes news that Scottish Labour MSP Foysol Choudhury has been suspended from the party while an allegation of inappropriate conduct made against him is investigated.

Choudhury, who has represented Lothian as an MSP for Labour since 2021, will sit as an independent while a party investigation is carried out.
A Labour spokesperson said: "The Labour Party takes all complaints seriously.
"They are fully investigated in line with our rules and procedures, and any appropriate action is taken."

It is understood Choudhury has been "administratively suspended" following a complaint against him.
Commenting on the suspension, SNP MP Kirsty Blackman said Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar "must urgently come clean on the reasons why yet another Labour Party MSP has been suspended".
Scottish Conservative deputy leader Rachael Hamilton Labour was in "complete chaos" on the eve of their party conference.

Seems like a copy of our 'native' or those who identify as 'native' when after given a new house, they trash it and complain.  Sure, then they get more money and where does that go.  Straight to grog and smokes.  When given everything they want they either trash it or complain about their conditions.  Send more money.  

The best scam is to feign sickness.  Free night in hospital.  Food etc.  Get up, walk away without saying thank you.  By the way there is no words for please and/or thankyou  in their languages.  Anyway after hospital they complain more about the staff and service.  Hospital workers suffer the consequences with no recourse other than you're racist and the follow on sacking.\

Day 1 of the Labour party conference starts today with the release of a poll commissioned by Left wing website LabourList which shows Kier Stalin isn't even supported by his own party members , the majority think he's doing a bad job and they want him gone sooner than later.

Meanwhile, Sir Keir's approval rating has hit a historic low. Just 13% of the public approves of the job he is doing as PM, according to a new Ipsos poll, while 79% is dissatisfied - giving him a net approval rating of -66.

That is worse than the previous record the pollster has recorded of -59, held by both Rishi Sunak in April 2024, and Sir John Major in August 1994.
