Why Statistics Cannot Be Trusted

The only class I got kicked out of was Statistics, because I repeatedly used the instructor's own data to prove his conclusions wrong.

Statistics are just numbers that people use to push their BS on to you.

I hate statistics. I guess you can probably tell that.

There is lies, damn lies, and then you have statistics. It is a minefield of mind mousetraps out there, constant bombardment of dirty laundry.

Half of them died!! Yes but there were only 2 people in the study.... Half of them dies out of 10,000 is a different matter...still 50% but......

Never trust statistics! Anyone with even a half-assed inkling of mathematical ability can manipulate the numbers to skew in whatever direction they desire. 

Take for instance this: A group pays a company to do a political poll. The group that contracted the company to do the poll wants the outcome to sway heavily in favor of the Democratic party. Say that the company has 10 people "cold call" random voters to question for the poll. However due to the desired outcome by the contracting group the pollers only "cold call" voters who live in an area where Democratic voters are the major majority. The statistics of that poll are heavily skewed toward the results desired by the company paying for the poll. 

Same can be said of "scientific studies". Who is to say that the result of "unvaccinated get in more auto wrecks" isn't because the data they used is from unvaccinated people who just happen to have been convicted of a DWI/DUI in the past with unvaccinated drivers who have NOT being conveniently left out of the statistics? They will never tell us and we will never know.

Take into consideration that public transportation had been restricted to those that were not vaccinated.

If you were not vaccinated, in a lot of places you could not fly or take any public transportation. So, if you had to get somewhere, the only way to get there was to drive. More unvaccinated people forced to be on the roads, again, skewing the numbers.
