Found this video at another site (not TOS). It's only a little under 16 minutes long but it's loaded with useful information on the off chance of getting arrested in the future. It does a great job of illustrating how the police try to take advantage of people who don't know any better (also in this case going through serious withdrawals) and exercising your rights.
Police are tricky. When I was pregnant with my oldest I had my house and yard searched and was brought in for questioning over something I had absolutely nothing to do with (and was physically IMPOSSIBLE for me to do while hugely pregnant). My answer to every single question and statement they made was "I didn't do shit!" so they told me "We're setting up a polygraph for you. After you take it you can leave." I told them "Fuck you! I want my lawyer NOW!" They asked who my lawyer was and the look on their faces! (My lawyer and former next door neighbor was the city judge.) They immediately told me I could leave and didn't bother me again for many years.

As an American it's your responsibility to have your own strategic duck stockpile. You can't expect the government to do it for you.
