Reagan's speech centered on anti-communism, and occurred during a flashpoint in the Polish Solidarity campaign. Their leader's (and future pres) mother immigrated to Jersey City in 1973, and her widower made the front page of the NY Times the same day as Reagan's Labor Day speech.

The totalitarian government of the Ukraine banned the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, not the Russian Orthodox Church. The UOC has no ties to Russia, and actually has spoken out against the Russian invasion of the Ukraine. Their crime is not being in lock-step with the Ukrainian fascists. You know how those fascist types just love them some lock-stepping and goose-stepping.

Refer to American ANTIFA and "cancel culture" for further examples of the required "lock-step" and details of how the hive-mind required for fascism and totalitarianism to take hold works in a national takeover. Back in the old days, the CIA referred to it as "regime change" and "nation building", and used the same psychological tactics... just in foreign lands rather than here at home as is being done now.

Huey Long was wrong about a lot of particulars, and that is just an example of another of them. Fascism has come to America with cries of "defending our democracy!" and "globalism!", and not much said at all about "Americanism" or "Nationalism".

For an example of CIA psychological operation tactics employing Orwellian "Double-Speak", refer to the now current use of the word "diversity". It no longer means what it used to - differences - but now means "if you don't think exactly as we do, you are not in lock-step, and therefore are not 'diverse' enough".
