The oldest such hybrid representation that I know of is about 40,000 years old, from germany, and known as Die Lowenmensch It is, as a matter of fact, probably the very first - or among the first - known carving produced by modern humans.



Head of a lion, body and limbs of a human, although it's unclear to me whether the distal terminus of the limbs are human hands and feet, or lion paws.

So these sculptures have been around since the dawn of art.
