YubNub Social - Anyone been on it lately? - Michigan Swamp Buck - 07-02-2023
I've been on YubNub Social since it was recommended on the old Rouge Nation 3 board and it has been buggy as hell for me from day one. There is little content I like and many of the basic features don't work. I do like the format and it was cool getting in on the ground floor, but it really does suck IMO.
Now, I was asked in YubNub messenger by Clouds and Wind if I was one of the members that came from Rouge Nation and we conversed a bit about things going on here. He or she didn't have much of an opinion of Rouge Nation so I kind of told him/her how much I thought it sucked on Yubnub. How they were the last network I'd go to, even after Facebook.
I tried to say it as nicely as possible, but you don't go disrespecting the Rouges when you're on such a shitty platform it makes Facebook seem great. I'll go to Gab long before I bother with YubNub anymore. I was going to try to end my membership somehow, but it's too buggy to do much of anything much less try to quit.
I like it here along with The Patriot Hangout on Tapatalk as well as TOS, except TOS is hanging by a thread for me lately.
So have any of the Rouges continued on YubNub? I'd like to hear some bitching if possible.
ETA:I do like Hans Schultz, he's a good guy.

I can't help you with this one. I deliberately unplugged from all the sites years ago. The only site I hung on to was TOS. I was invited to RN when things went a bit buggy at TOS and I liked it here, so I stayed.
I enjoy having a place I can hang, share, and learn. If things go South, or we get invaded, before I will go looking for another site, I will pull all the plugs. If I have more time to spare I will find another place to volunteer. I have been thinking about spending some time at the pantry. It is busier than ever right now, and could use the help.

I don't want anyone to think that the message was hateful, but more like saying Rouge Nation was lame and lacking in content. It was a rather off-handed remark, but not hateful. It seemed more like they were trying to brag about YubNub by kind of putting down Rouge Nation.
In my conversation I talked about the changes since Gouhua passed away. How R-N3 became RougeNation.com and it was a little rough changing over. I guess they harped on that, I'm not sure really, but it wasn't hateful, it just pissed me off because YubNub sucks IMO. Just another reason to stop going there, the last straw or nail so-to-speak.

A lot of our content is still at RN3. When we came to RN.com we were starting from scratch.
I would like to see more content, and more participation in the threads, and I think with time we may get there. In the mean time, I think what is contributed is better than you find is a lot of other places. Personally, I think that we have a little more meat and potatoes, and less junk food.
And then there is the Shoutbox.
Gotta love it.

Exactly the same scenario. When TOS had those issues and was up down was the first time I had heard of Rogue from another member. I have never heard of yubnub though.

I visited YubNub quite a bit at first but kind of stopped going over there much because everyone I like to talk to is here.
I did stop by there a couple of months ago but not for long because there really wasn’t much to look at.
This is basically the only place I go to now. I look at Gab every once in awhile but some of those people are a bit too much.

It was Ninurta that recommended it at the old Rouge Nation and he said one of the founders was a member there (on R-N3). That member named himself, wait for it, "YubNubSocial".
I guess we should be hearing from Ninurta soon. Maybe he has given up as well.

Nope, I don't go there much. I got in as they were starting up, and got one of those lifetime memberships, but then I got sidetracked at RN3 trying to implement the https:// protocols, and one thing led to another and I just haven't been back much. Got plenty to do here.
I don't much do social media, though, anyhow. I have a Facebook account that I only sporadically visit, maybe a couple times a month, I have a Twitter account that is so old I've forgotten the login to it - that should tell you how much I twittered - and I have a Gab account that I have not been to in several months. When the Gab honcho started sending me e-mails all about "Christian Nationalism", that was the death knell. I reckon everyone should know by now that I don't think God plays politics, or debases itself to a political level, so "Christian nationalism" talk was a big fat turnoff to me. I have this weird idea that the Kingdom of God is spiritual, rather than temporal, so I won't be looking for God in Washington DC any time in the near future.
If Gab wants to change that, then more power to 'em, but I won't be living in a theocracy without a fight. It kinda pisses me off that anyone would disrespect God enough to even try to make that happen. Besides, that theocracy business hasn't worked out so well for European or Muslim countries, so why waste time with it?
(That last bit about Gab - that was the 'bitching' you wanted to hear, eh?)

Rant and rave about Gab, even though I've actually been going there more often lately. When Parler died, I went back to Gab, but it has certain types there I don't like. I have to go searching again I guess, just don't want to hook up with another crappy website.
What I want is an alternative news, news feed. I have to think about how I can get something like that going. The new Trump "Truth Social", I don't think so, but has anyone look at that one?

I haven't. Being Trump's site, I just figured it was chock full of Trumpisms and "mean tweets", so I never checked it out. Got enough of that crap while he was president. He did a fine job of running the country and fixing the economy, but the one thing I held against him was that every time he opened his mouth, bullshit rolled out. If I want bullshit and shit-talking, I can just go down to the local bar and sit in a corner and listen.
We had a closer bar named "Ralph's" that was good for local news and a shit-talkin' good time, but they closed it a couple years ago - too many killings in too short a time. State declared it a public nuisance over the killing rate, and pulled it's license, closing it down.

A quick search has brought up several methods to create customized RSS Feed Readers.
This might just do the trick. I'll be working on that and report back with a new thread. YubNub has, I believe, at the very least pointed me in the right direction.
What would be super-cool is an online RSS Reader that I can customize and share online somehow. I'll be trying to find a solution that can be shared in that way.
