According to a few of the articles, Senators are being issued these phones in the event of a "Large communications outage". Why now? Usually when they "suddenly prepare" for strange events, those events materialize in short order.

When you get the call proceed quickly in an orderly fashion to the bunker. Or WEF's simulated cyber attack is imminent as Der Hochklaus von Blohschwab Freiherr (Baron) von Bomburst warned about back in July 2020. Or preppin for switching to secondary Internet for deep state instructions, or secure Bitcoin transactions, or maybe it's for secure comms to TikTok. Who knows, but something surely is afoot.
