Nobody is entirely sure why the US Space Force — the youngest, smallest, and weirdest branch of the Pentagon — exists.

Strikingly, that seems to include the service's top general, Politico reports. In an email sent out to all Guardians — the unfortunate name given to personnel — chief of space operations Chance Saltzman voiced his confusion.
"I have some concerns with our current mission statement," he wrote, as quoted by Politico. "My biggest concern is that the mission statement does not reflect why the Nation has a Space Force and the vital functions Guardians perform."

The memo goes to show that there's still plenty of disagreement over the military branch's purpose, which doesn't bode well, considering the Biden administration is requesting a 2024 budget of $30 billion to fund the whole mess.

Guardians of the Galaxy

The Space Force, established by the Trump administration three years ago, has already struggled with maintaining its image and being taken seriously, especially in light of a Netflix-produced comedy TV show of the same name.

According to its current mission statement, which was established in December 2019, the Space Force is "responsible for organizing, training, and equipping Guardians to conduct global space operations that enhance the way our joint and coalition forces fight, while also offering decision makers military options to achieve national objectives."

But Saltzman found the statement was lacking and didn't fully represent the responsibilities of Guardians.

"Guardians deliver capability," he wrote in the memo. "Guardians operate some of the most technologically advanced systems in the world. In doing so, they deter aggression and, should deterrence fail, protect US interests with military force."

"Additionally, our current mission statement is long and cumbersome," he added. "We can do better."
Worst of all, Saltzman's solution to the pesky problem was to crowdsource a new mission statement from Guardians — Spacey McSpace Force, anybody?

Overall, the general's memo seems to demonstrate that the Space Force is still struggling to come up with answers to some very basic questions. And that doesn't bode well considering the sheer amount of resources needed to keep it running.

Never made any sense to me.  What is the point?

All I saw was Trump bloviating and fluffing is hair feathers.

Someone convince me of a genuine -- realistic -- reason for another government department.

Not interested in comments on Biden.

Please  Cool

The Space Force was formed because of China and their endeavors in space (which was a hot topic during the Trump Admin) plus the Airfarce was not able to handle the mission as their bag was full already. Primary mission is to detect and protect American's national interest in space, Satellites, Radar detection and tracking possible enemy satellites.

That is not as far fetched as it may sound.

As technology develops so inevitably will the ability to have this technology fall into piratical hands. Now just imagine the globalists desire for the great digital reset to move everything in terms of financial clearing house into the space cloud and have everybody on a digital enslavement currency.

Land, sea, air, and now space for full spectrum dominance. As above, so below. I assume the Space Force primary mission will be to protect those space based assets which in the near future will house the world's banking cartel transactions & later the storage of every human purchase of anything.

The Clearing House Interbank Payments System (CHIPS) is a United States private clearing house for large-value transactions. By 2015, it was settling well over US $1.5 trillion a day in around 250,000 interbank payments in cross border and domestic transactions.

It's the counterpart to SWIFT. Given the globalists mad rush to digital currency I would not be surprised if they are going to attempt to move as much of the Clearing system into networked space cloud as possible. Now, that right there is going to require asset PROTECTION...namely the satellites/rack servers and what do we see constantly being launched into space?? This may be for the coming social credit digital currency control system where us poor peasants cannot get to it. Charming. Also, for planetary commerce they will require a digital currency space based infrastructure system. China, France, UK, AUS, and now Germany all creating their space commands. The technology will drive the militarization and weaponization of space. The new space race has begun.

Of course media stories on StarLink are all largely framed around providing fast internet for all the Russo-UKR fake vids to regional rural people and nomads out in the desert.

Tens of billions of dollars, and taking up so much of SpaceX's payloads to give regional peoples faster internet.  Wink Yet, one hardly hears anything about all those secret NRO payloads with their spooky occult mission patches going up, except for Elon tweeting his frequent rocket launches with unknown payloads.

And the live link now redirects to the newly renamed ORACLE and pushed out the launch from 2025 to 2026.
