GOP's Luna unveils resolution to expel Adam Schiff from Congress

[*]Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna on Wednesday unveiled a resolution to remove California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff from Congress.
"Schiff lied to the American people. He used his position on House Intel to push a lie that cost American taxpayers millions of dollars," she wrote in a Tweet from her official account. "He is a dishonor to the House of Representatives."
On her personal account, Luna included a different statement in a post that included the resolution.
"Knowingly using your position on House Intel to push a lie that ripped apart our country, cost taxpayers millions of dollars, and authorized spying on a US President and then proceeding to double down on the lie within days of the Durham report coming out makes you unfit for office. Ethics should investigate," she insisted.
A prominent critic of former President Donald Trump, Schiff repeatedly insisted that Trump and his campaign worked with the Russian government to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. The publication of Special Counsel John Durham's report this week, however, revealed that the FBI began its investigation of the Trump campaign without any predicating evidence.
"Neither U.S. law enforcement nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation," Durham wrote.
Schiff, nonetheless, has maintained his position, contending that "what [Durham] said is that there wasn’t evidence of collusion before they began the investigation. That’s obviously a very important distinction." He pointed to Trump's campaign manager giving poll data to a Russian agent.
Durham explicitly noted that "[t]he FBI Intelligence Analyst who had perhaps the most in-depth knowledge of particularly sensitive Russian intelligence information in FBI holdings during the relevant time period disclosed that she never saw anything regarding any Trump election campaign conspiracy with the Russians, nor did she see anything in FBI holdings regarding Carter Page, Michael Flynn, George Papadopoulos, or Paul Manafort engaging in any type of conspiracy with the Russians regarding the election."
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy refused to allow Schiff to sit on the Intelligence Committee earlier this year, insisting that he "has lied too many times to the American public." The California Democrat is currently running for the party nomination to replace retiring Sen. Dianne Feinstein in 2024.
Luna's resolution comes the same day that the House voted on a move to refer an expulsion resolution against New York Republican Rep. George Santos to the House Ethics Committee. Santos has come under flak for fabricating his background while on the campaign trail and is facing federal criminal charges for making false statements, money laundering, stealing public funds, and fraud.
