Results of Webb's TRAPPIST-1 b Observation Released - gortex - 04-01-2023

The first result from Webb's observations of the TRAPPIST-1 planetary system is in and unsurprisingly given as TRTRAPPIST-1 b is the closest of the 7 planet system to its parent Star the Earth sized exoplanet is a bit hot and has little to no atmosphere , at around 400 degrees Fahrenheit it's not as hot as Mercury but significantly hotter than Death Valley.
Quote:Scientists made models for TRAPPIST-1 b: with an atmosphere, and without. Webb’s results matched the model with no atmosphere. If TRAPPIST-1 b did have an atmosphere to circulate and distribute heat, its temperature should have been much cooler than what was measured.

As TRAPPIST-1b is outside of the Star's habitable zone the finding is to be expected , the results for TRAPPIST-1 c, d and e are the most eagerly awaited as they are in the Star's habitable zone with TRAPPIST-1 d the planet most of us are awaiting the results for TR

Here's an impression of what we might see if we could get to TRAPPIST-1 d.

One down 6 more to go , I just hope we don't have to wait months for each one.
