Even as a kid, I was skeptical of the debunking efforts.  Then, and now, I could accept that most of the sightings and encounters were mistaken, the result of alcohol/drug intake, or mental illness.  But I could not accept that ALL of them were. And that meant there was something unusual going on, no matter how many witnesses the "authorities" attempted to discredit. I've become jaded by the decades of government games.  If undeniable disclosure comes, I'll just submit it to the "so what factor" test.  Me having to keep on keepin' on after disclosure will mean the revelations merited a shrug of the shoulders and a muttered, "so what ...".
