Star Trek Fleet Command - STFC - Michigan Swamp Buck - 03-08-2026

Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC). Does anyone here play this game?

You start with one spaceship for mining and a base station. Your ship has an AI assistant. You follow the AI's instructions at the beginning until you understand the user interface better. You build up the station, your ships, and the crew. You go on missions and have to open a lot of goody boxes for rewards.

Also, you can create or join an alliance with other members. You can then help your members with their tasks, do tournaments, or attack other players' ships and bases to steal their cargo inventory. There are more than enough non-player hostiles to destroy, so no real need to attack other players.

I should mention that it is a huge real-time simulation. You can put your base station and ships to work and leave the game while they continue to work in the game world. "Set it and forget it". You could get attacked and robbed, but it pays to mine while you're away.

I thought it was a lot like the very first star trek computer game from the late 70s. We used the school's computer with an acoustic coupler modem and no screen, just a printer, to play that simple game. STFC is a word game basically, like Zork, but with cool graphics, plus online and multi-player. The graphics seemed simple, until I started to zoom in.

I'm just really getting going now. It seems like I have always played this game. I felt like that from the first day I tried it, spooky really. I'm Admiral Buck Marsh of the Buccaneers Alliance, which is an independent organization that includes myself and five cadets who don't seem to know how to use the chat feature. Just think, if I hadn't gained the rank of Admiral, I'd still be a space cadet.  Laughing

Sounds good.  Been playing Endless Sky myself for a while now.  While a single player game there are challenges that keep me interested and still some I don't think I'll ever get through.  Do like the story book format although corny at times.  An old game but I'm old too.

Kind regards,

Bally.

I have been retired for many years.  I am not going to start working for AI in a video game.  Seems like they are conditioning us to be controlled by AI in the near future. Laughing

I thought they were selling us on the fact that we would be controlling the robots, not the other way. Surprised

Took me back with that comment about the 1970s ST game.  First versions were played on mainframes IIRC.

This game is massive and fairly complex. I'm doing well, and my Buccaneers Alliance has 15 members now, out of a total of 32 (at this level).

All new players in the alliance, at least two, have figured out the chat feature. They all seem to know how to ask for help from the alliance, at least.

My plan now is to convince the alliance to occupy a star system somewhere near the high-grade resources, or at least in the center of the map. "Strength in Numbers" is my motto now, and gathering in one spot will show we are a force to be respected.
