Can you read in your dreams? - babushka - 01-31-2026

Can you read in your dreams? This passage stood out for me in Lyn Buchanan book because I have often heard people reference not being able to read, or look at clocks whatever

Quote:CRV’s biggest weakness—in fact, its biggest embarrassment—is its almost total inability to get information in the form of numbers and/or letters—alphanumeric information—at the lower levels of training and experience. During a CRV session, alphanumeric information comes to the viewer in much the same way as do dreams. If you have ever had a dream of reading a newspaper and remember how the type on the page floated, changed, and warped, you understand how it works in CRV. With a great deal of training and experience, a viewer can work around this problem to get the alphanumerics, but it may take years to reach that level of proficiency.

One of my pet peeves is reading/writing or working on a computer during mediation and lucid dreaming. I can read/write type just fine and it's the absurdity that wakes me up. Very hypnotic also. I think many people underestimate how vivid lucid dreams are. I don't think it's special either, just that we forget. I find it's a great learning tool - when it works, it's always weird...

"Can you read in your dreams?"  Not that I can recall. Street signs, store signs and that sort of reading but nothing close to newspapers or a book.

this is the first I've heard of people who can't read in their dreams. I've always been able to, and just assumed that everyone could. I'v never heard of this before.

I don't think I ever had a dream where I was reading.  Never even crossed my mind that there might be something to it.  Never even read a street sign that I know of either...nothing at all that I remember about reading anything.

Makes me wonder if this could be true?  Maybe it is because we are not actually using our eyes?

Don't remember reading stuff but in the past I've dreamt seeing lottery numbers.

When I wake up I can jot down 1 or 2 but be buggerd if I can remember more than that.

But, sadly I haven't had those dreams in a while.

Would love to get all the numbers and test it out but there are so many lotteries.  Guess I'd give it a go if I had the chance.

Kind regards,

Bally.

Interesting thought, not actually using our eyes. What do they do anyway? Detected wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation, the fields themselves just being projections of higher dimensional objects. It's just a reconstruction/interpretation.

I think we can all read in our dreams, just that we forget. The memory thing is bugging the heck out of me now. Why can't we remember? Without getting all philosophical, there must be some processes involved.

I just had a dream, I was doing math, solved something and I thought "neat this is exactly what I needed for work" woke up and took a leak and it's all gone, within 30seconds it's gone. I couldn't tell you what it was about. Just the general theme is left.

This is why I was obsessed with drawing pictures and journaling a while ago. We don't forget our dreams because it gets blocked out or because we don't want to or whatever. There is something else at play, remembering everything in detail would be super beneficial.

And why is the 'esoteric' dreams remembered in super detail? Like wtf, it appears the same as ordinary dreams, but you can remember infinite details

You cannot remember the non 'esoteric' dreams, because you are trying to remember them with a WILL to remember. Do not use your conscious mind like a hammer, send a thought/message to the un-conscious and ask it to do it as a favour (in a sense and speak with you).

The reason you remember the "esoteric" dreams is because they align with you consciously.

Imagine a jet plane being flown by a kid. Meanwhile, you are tied to the seat of the plane, blindfolded, hands tied behind the chair with a bag over your head - headed to a certain death as well all are. The innocent child that wants to be the hero has the controls and needs help (ego)... your job is to negotiate to safety and not just with dreams either!  Laughing

Do not will it, just ask it/you to do it like you would with someone or something that you know absolutely has your back 100% because it is after all... you. Then wait and the answers will come.
Good luck with your journey and hope that helps. If not throw it in the bin and good luck anywaysCool Number One

Thanks, it's a good answer but I don't agree and it's my fault for saying 'esoteric' and leaving it vague. Too much woo and people run away... I think there is an actual mechanism at play, it has a purpose, forgetting is a symptom of something else that is going on. Not sure if that explains it better. Nothing to do with aligning conscious and subconscious, there is no block.

I wonder if emotion has anything to do with it, some form of interplay between whatever does memory and emotion.

edit: maybe the issue is saying we forget, when just don't remember to start with, like the memory part is just not functional at that time
