Finding the Exact Center of Nevada - A Trip Through Monitor Valley - EndtheMadnessNow - 11-09-2025

Quote:The geographic center of Nevada is located near the northern end of the state's remote Monitor Valley. A place with no towns, no services, and no paved roads. Stretching nearly 90 miles between the Toquima and Monitor mountain ranges, this forgotten landscape is home to not only the exact geographic center of the state, but also  hot springs, ghost ranches, and wild horses.

In this video, we travel the old Belmont Road, once known as State Route 82, a former state highway that hasn’t appeared on the official highway maps since 1980. Along the way we’ll visit Diana’s Punchbowl, a steaming, 200-degree geothermal crater rising from the valley floor, and check out the historic Potts Ranch, and whatever else we can find.

Finally, we’ll try to find Nevada’s true center, or rather, its centers. From the original 1920s U.S. Geological Survey point to the modern 2015 recalculation, we’ll try and see where they really are…

Cool landscape scenery you've never seen.
Take a break from the mad, mad, mad world and have a watch.
