Darkenstein 3D - retro-inspired FPS tribute to Wolfenstein and Doom - gortex - 10-05-2025
It's WWII and you play as "Hobo Guy" on a mission to rescue your pet dog from the Nazis , Darkenstein 3D is a homage to Doom and Castle Wolfenstein taking players back to 90s era FPS games where skill and fun were the priority not DEI or messaging , so if you've played those games this may be right up your street , there's a free demo on Steam ahead of the game's free to play release on October 21, 2025.

i use to play Wolfenstein Emeny Terrotory. and would make people made cause i would hold up somewhere near the objectives and pick off all the sneaky petes that would try and sneak in / take it. i mostly used the MG 42. was part of House R*X

Ha ha, I played the 90s version of Castle Wolfenstein. I enjoyed the occasional views of the Alps out the windows!
Doom was more advanced but somehow didn't interest me as much.

I played the demo which is the prologue that lasts about 30 minutes , it's very much Wolfenstein or perhaps the sequel Return to Castle Wolfenstein with Nazis and dogs to shoot , gold bars to pick up , food to eat and secrets to be found , looking forward to the full release for some more dumb Hobo slayer fun.

Wish I could go back in time and play Doom and Castle Wolfenstein for the first time.
Later 90s I was writing new custom levels for Doom LAN parties. Damn, those were the days!!

At this point I see this as the ultimate art form. I can make the music, the art, the programming... it's some exciting stuff!
