The Shadow Walker - Jacob Carl Novak - Michigan Swamp Buck - 08-25-2025

I thought I posted a thread on this work in progress before. Perhaps it was at the old rogue-nation. Ninurta would remember when I started this one.

"The Shadow Walker - Jacob Carl Novak"

This story is based on “Kolchak: The Night Stalker”, an American television series that first aired in the 1974–1975 season. “The series followed wire service reporter Carl Kolchak, who investigates mysterious crimes with unlikely causes involving the supernatural”. The Title “Shadow Walker” is in a number of books and movies and has different meanings. Here, a "shadow walker" is a Native American Indian term for a person who walks in two worlds.

It needs to be mentioned that the Kolchak series was the inspiration for the “X Files” that aired from 1993 to 2002. That is a contributing factor in that much of the inspiration for these stories is based on 90s alternative music and that there is a female partner involved.

I have three chapters completed, each of around 5,000 words per chapter. As webpages, I have chosen to have around 1,000 words per page, with around 5 pages per chapter. A printed paperback would have more pages with less words, but these pages function more like sub-chapters.

The first page is merely the preface (quoted below) introducing the story, please link to the following page to continue reading all 15 pages that comprise the first three chapters. At the end of each page is a link to a forum where you can comment on the ongoing story. You have to join this forum, as I don't allow open guest comments.

Quote:  Jacob Carl Novak, an investigative journalist, is following a dark path in a quest to find solid evidence that supports his late uncle's unpublished files. Jake loves his uncle's stories and wants desperately to provide a logical conclusion to the unexplained cases. He is interested in facts in his reports, pursues a story where ever it may go, and is a rather scruple-less character that will do anything to investigate a story he's interested in. Jake will leave his old life behind and come to understand that not every case he investigates has a verifiable explanation. He is joined by a number of interesting characters in his quest for the truth that leads into the deepest darkness.

Shadow Walker

I'd like some feed back here of course, but it is extremely hard to get anyone even slightly interested in reading this. I'm not too concerned as I am my worst critic.
