The Nevada Triangle and 2000 crashed aircraft

RE: The Nevada Triangle - 727Sky - 01-20-2023

When the winds aloft are strong you always get mountain waves (in mountainous areas) and yes they are just like waves on the sea as far as up and down movements. I was taught always approach a ridge-line when the winds are strong at a 45 degree angle so if the wave is to strong for your aircraft to over come the sinking air you can evade the down draft before you hit the dirt.
