The life of the half-immortal who advised CCP leaders - 727Sky - 06-20-2025 Quote:Despite being staunch atheists, Chinese Communist leaders and their officials have long believed in supernatural powers and often consulted psychics. Local officials in Northeast China once discovered a man from a rural area who has the ability to see both the past and the future. They called him Half-Immortal Wang and frequently sought him out for fortune-telling. Eventually, Wang was brought to Beijing, where he advised some of the most powerful men in China. One possibly crucial difference between the two is that China's former government, the Nationalist Chinese, is still alive and well and waiting in the wings on Taiwan. It has been since Mao seized power and Chiang Kai-Shek fled to Taiwan. That's one of the reasons China has a hard-on for Taiwan. They can't stand that the competition still exists. It still remains to be seen, however, whether or not the Taiwan government is ready to scale up to govern the mainland. . |
