The James Webb just found the oldest Galaxy - Again. - gortex - 05-27-2025

That tapping you hear is more nails going into the coffin of the Big Bang theory , its been confirmed James Webb has again found the oldest Galaxy in the known Universe dating back to just 280 million years after the supposed Big Bang , MoM-z14 is estimated to be about 500 light-years in diameter, dense and possibly minus a Super Massive Black Hole (although I doubt that) but so soon after the beginning of the Universe it really shouldn't be there.

Meet MOM -Z14.

Quote:View of the MoM-z14 galaxy obtained with the NIRCam camera with three filters. In terms of remoteness among galaxies, it is the new record holder, as of 2025. JWST measured its spectrum and detected several emission lines, fixing its status as originating when the Universe was only 282 million years old.

Given the current detection rate it remains to be seen how long MOM remains queen of the roost.

Heh, well, I guess the good news here is; maybe now some of these folks will stop making it their life's goal to prove Einstein wrong and move on to trying to prove the Big Bang didn't happen!

Up until now, attempting to prove Einstein wrong has paved the way for the career's of more than a few (hundred) physicists.

I mean, I get it that a fundamental element of science is to question everything, so no surprise there, but there have been a whole lot more than just a few who have gone a lot further than that with Einstein.  "Gee, I could really make a name for myself if a proved a really bright star like Einstein wrong!  Proving Galileo wrong is chump's work, but now Einstein on the other hand, well, he'd be a real prize!"

Smile Smile

edit - Rather ironic that Einstein started out not believing the Big Bang happened also. But he eventually changed his mind. Certainly Hubble contributed greatly to this change of heart.
