I didn't know if this was supposed to be a recommendation or what? The link to IMDB didn't tell me much without signing in but being a fan of the original show in the 1960s and having somewhat of a crush on Illya Kuryakin (David McCallum), I decided to watch the movie because I have kind of a fangirl crush on Henry Cavill, my favorite Superman.

It was entertaining enough. In the movie Napoleon Solo (Cavill) was some sort of master criminal thief scallywag recruited into spy service in exchange for getting out of prison and at the beginning of the movie, Kuryakin was some badass Russian super-spy out to stop Solo from getting the female protagonist across the Berlin wall so they were initially enemies who were then forced to work together by their respective agencies to stop the baddies from building a nuclear bomb.

When Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) was revealed, I was disappointed or maybe a little down because he wasn't nearly as cute and charming as the original character and the chemistry with Solo wasn't the same but I was determined to not let this cloud my enjoyment of the rest of the movie.

There were some good action scenes and in any sort of period piece, as this was being set in the early 60s, I'm always interested in the vintage and foreign cars and wasn't disappointed. I found the actress playing the evil Italian gang leader (Eilzabeth Debicki) to be quite exotic and regal looking and was well cast.

One of the slickest gadgets in the original, the radio in a fountain pen, was not seen in the movie and back in the day, I thought that was pretty cool.

There are a few plot twists that I didn't see coming but it was foreshadowed that something was going on. There was a boat chase and a car & motorcycle chase and a few humorous and light-hearted moments and all things considered, it was entertaining and I thought it was pretty decent.

For a good look at the original series, this video tells the story.
