PlayTV Video Sharing Platform - Michigan Swamp Buck - 01-28-2025

Since Parler came back they have a new video-sharing service they named PlayTV. I have been posting my videos there and wanted to let you guys take a look.

I have eight home videos up so far and have been experimenting with segments of around 30 seconds up to 10 minutes. I'm thinking of combining segments between six to ten minutes and stringing them together for longer productions. This is due to uploading time, data constraints, and to fit into the TV advertising schedule that people are used to already.

Here is a link to my profile on PlayTV below.

I have a freeware video editing program that is pretty good, but I'm not that used to it yet. So the editing will get better as I go along. Other than the live bands I've already videotaped, I intend on only producing original material including the soundtrack.

Check it out if you do online videos. You may want to explore the submissions that are coming in from other people too. It is a relatively new service, but I got close to five thousand views on one video I put up early on. I haven't been directing traffic or even using tags and keyword rich text (until yesterday).

I didn't know Parler came back. Their video site looks like Parler version of Youtube and I assume minus the censorship.

I never heard of the Detroit band, The Atomic Fireballs.

Yeah, Parler is back, like I posted in my thread about Parler sending me emails for three years after they disappeared. Thread about Parler

The first band video of K-Wild is 5:38 long and an edited version with their studio recording used for audio. Those guys were good friends of mine and were doing really well for many years until the singer Danny K died of cancer.

Then there are three 30 second clips of local boat parties and one with the two bears that waltzed right up my driveway in broad daylight.

After that is The Atomic Fireballs three-part video from 1999. The Fireballs were a "jump swing" band from the 90s when swing dancing was making a comeback. Their music was featured in a number of movies, particularly in the Scooby Do movies. I had their demo CD before they signed with Atlantic Records and "made it". Here is the Wiki article link.

Wiki on Atomic Fireballs

I was thinking about other "unknowns" I have video of, but the audio on many is distorted from the high volume in the small venues. Plus we are talking about analog VHS tapes digitized into AVI and then converted into MP4 or MOV files for internet use.

I'll edit some more live band material to get used to the editing program, but not much more. I am moving on from that subject matter and want to work on something entirely different now. All digital work from the beginning. I'll see what footage I have in HD format and then work on new stuff using that format going forward.

After I created the tags and text for search engine results, I got better view totals.

I noticed that I got around one hundred views per hour for around six or so hours when it slowed and leveled off. Then adding the tags and text boosted them up, even the older video posts.

The Fireballs are getting over three thousand views in one day. I don't expect them to get more than 5,000 views like the K-Wild video is at right now.

It has been two days since I posted the Fireballs and the views haven't gone up much leveling out at an avg. of 3.3K for the three parts.

I posted a 2:19 video about an abandoned deer camp 19 hours ago and it has 1.3K views. I paid attention for six hours and it followed the avg. of 100 views per hour up to that point.

The 35-second boat party clip I put up with the Atomic Fireballs videos has gotten 1.9K views in two days.

Now, I want to attribute these figures to the drawing power of the subject matter. However, the length of the videos may contribute somehow. I suspect that the half-minute boat party clip was viewed primarily in the hope of seeing some skin, like naked boobies. This gave it nearly 2,000 views in two days or a thousand views a day so far. The scary abandoned deer camp may do as well at around two and a half minutes run time. I will know by tomorrow how well that one does.

With the Atomic Fireballs at over 3,300 views in two days, the longer length of the videos doesn't seem to slow it down any. It looks like the live band subject matter has kept it going that well for two days at least.

All the videos have leveled off by the third day. Two days seems to be the active live span of these videos regardless of subject matter or the total views after they have leveled off.

Also, it looks like the videos will be up on the PlayTV home page under "recently added videos" for about a half hour. That section holds six video selections so they have a new video added around every five minutes. The trending video section has videos with views from 2K to 5K that seem like random picks but are probably preferred content.
