American, Spirit, Delta, United, South West, and more airlines in trouble - 727Sky - 12-29-2024

The fuel cost are a big part of the troubles for the airlines... Drill baby drill !!

I do some work at our local airport.  American is the only carrier.  They run with minimal staff, mostly kids; they don't pay enough to keep long-term adults.  However the flights are pretty full.
slow season coming next few months.
I wonder if the suits are hanging on waiting for the fuel prices to drop.  (and more passengers as the economy improves)

I thought about this yesterday, how many well known airlines from my childhood have vanished over the years ...

Trans World Airlines, Pan American, Eastern.

Those were GIANTS of firms.  All gone now.  Just like refueling stops at Shannon.  Just like having a seat with some actual room for one's body  Laughing

Cheers--

Like Pete Buttigieg might say: These airlines were all so to DEI for.
