For once I agree with the feds - 727Sky - 11-28-2024

A battle is shaping up with regards to so called sanctuary cities and the Federal Immigration policies... I will actually clap if some of the elected idiots in places like Chicago, L.A. and N.Y. get a stay at club Fed; orange jump suit and all...

RE: For once I agree with the feds - Michigan Swamp Buck - 11-29-2024

I'm a right-of-center conservative and normally question the federal authorities due to the high level of corruption and communist influences. I instinctively suspect the motivation of the government and politicians regardless of party affiliation. The progressive programs are the most suspicious to me, however, there is just as much propaganda and rhetoric on the far right, so I have to consider the uni-party theory to even out my political paranoia.

Each administration has been getting more extreme in its policies and overall agendas in a reactionary polarization that swings back and forth more forcefully with every major election. So, I find myself seeking the center more than the far end of the conservative right. I can only look back and forth and think that some good things have come from the extreme ends of the political spectrum and hope that eventually, the pendulum will settle at the center and we will become a well-adjusted moderate society. I have my doubts though.

It is well known that in these political power struggles, they always fight for twice as much ground so they can fall back to where they want to be when another administration comes in and undoes much of the work from the last one. This has become an extreme reactionary response when the parties are so polarized, but hopefully, this can act as a check and balance and keep both parties from becoming too extreme. It is the tranquility of the common people who are in between that is at stake here during this constant ideological battle between parties. If this became extreme enough, then this could lead to civil unrest and even rebellion.

I think the Feds should let these cities go.  Make them sovereign city-states.  And then blockade the living Hell out of them to force them to consider their policies so that they can perform basics like -import food-, because food doesn't grow in asphalt streets.

They want to act like they're big boys ?  Sure.  Let's take the situation to its logical extreme and see who squeaks first.

Cheers--

Watching the vid with the mayors and reps of these cities and states saying they won't allow their police to act makes me wonder what the police think?  I'd like to see a response from a Police Union or Federation.

If I was a cop there I'd be sickened.

It sounds corrupt to hamstring the police and keep them to the elites discretion and off the street.

Of course I am no expert on the machinations of US police and troopers being an ex Aussie cop.  Our police federations stand up to the state and federal leaders if they dictate how the sworn should act or inact as long as it within the bounds of the law.  For the law to be changed it needs an Act of Parliament such is the 'separation of powers'.

1/. The Parliament
2/. The judiciary
3/. Police

But for the leaders to say "We won't allow 'our' police to do this seems like Loki lecturing the Hulk.

My thoughts - could be wrong.

Unfortunately there are always enforcers who will do the bidding of their pay masters; surely not all, but there is always a few...

Yeah, it's a bit confusing from my perspective but I was under a different system.  Hence the separation of the powers where I come from.

Kind regards Skyman.
