The Cashier Is in the Philippines - Infolurker - 04-13-2024 I think we all knew this was coming, especially with boosting fast food wages in to astronomical levels. Why pay someone here 20 bucks an hour to take orders at a window or counter when you can have someone in the Philippines do it over a video screen for 2-3 bucks an hour? RE: The Cashier Is in the Philippines - Ninurta - 04-13-2024 What'd they think was gonna happen when they started letting their greed price them out of jobs? Bad things happening here with exorbitant minimum wages, too. Food joints started passing the cost up to the customers - how else are they gonna make a dollar? - and so customers started eating at home. Now the workers get a high hourly wage for their jobs... but not enough hours a week to live on. At least one place here caps them out at 15 hours a week, tops. We tried to tell them that was what was gonna happen. When folks can't listen and learn, then they'll have to live it and learn. . |
