Parler Dead for Three Years Still Haunts My Inbox - Michigan Swamp Buck - 03-17-2024

I find it strange that a social media company that has been offline since January 2021 still sends me newsletters via the email account I used with them. Here is the address, "newsletter@parlermailer.com".

So I looked into Parler again and found this tidbit on Wikipedia . . .

Quote:Parler was acquired by the digital media conglomerate Starboard on April 14, 2023, and was shut down on the same day.[36] According to a statement by Starboard on the website's holding page, now removed, this was a temporary measure to allow the site to "undergo a strategic assessment".[37][38]

On December 15, 2023, the company was sold to a new co-owner group consisting of Ryan Rhodes, Elise Pierotti and Jaco Booyens. Ryan Rhodes was appointed CEO.[39] A 2024 relaunch was hinted at by the new ownership soon after the company purchase. In January 2024, the company's external social media outlets officially restarted operations to announce the relaunch. The platform itself remains inaccessible, but the website has been restored.

I guess Parlor never gave up the ghost and might be raised from the dead soon.

I've always liked Parler and how they fought the good fight to stay in operation when they got heat for free speech and Jan. 6th. I was seriously pissed when it shut down and I was now left with Gab Social, one I rarely look at. To me, the struggle Parler went through seemed to echo what was happening to President Trump.

I then checked out the domain name "parlermailer" as this is the source of the newsletters I've been getting. I have found out some really interesting things.

Parler, a social network that was driven out by Big Tech after playing an integral role in planning for the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol riot, is apparently making a comeback using the services of a Silicon Valley giant.

The right-wing social network Parler is sending its email blasts via software made by Salesforce, the largest employer in San Francisco and the owner of the city’s biggest skyscraper.

According to domain registry records reviewed by The Daily Beast, Parler is using Salesforce Marketing Cloud, an automated email marketing product also known as ExactTarget, to send out email blasts like the one it sent Friday night with the subject line “No more being silenced.” Independent open-source researcher Max Kamin-Cross first flagged the domain records.

. . . The social network is sending the emails via the domain parlermailer.com, a domain registered and attached to Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Salesforce is Parler’s sole email marketing provider. The company signed up for Salesforce’s services in April.

Given the above information, I found the portal page to parlermailer where you can still join it and get their newsletter.

Parler may be a ghost haunting my email, but it sent me a message from beyond the grave.

It is ALIVE!

. . . 2023 acquisition and shutdown

On April 14, 2023, digital media conglomerate Starboard announced that it had acquired Parler's parent company Parlement Technologies, and that it would temporarily shut down the social site while it prepared a revamped version.[36]
The website's home page was initially replaced with a holding page containing a statement by Starboard saying that "No reasonable person believes that a Twitter clone just for conservatives is a viable business any more" and that "the Parler app as it is currently constituted will be pulled down from operation to undergo a strategic assessment".[164] For a period of time, the page was a simple purple/pink background emblazoned with the Parler brand and logo, and a message that read, "Coming Soon."
2024 relaunch
On February 9, 2024, Parler's social media outlets announced a relaunch of the social media service, simultaneously updating the website with a form to allow visitors to register for announcements regarding the platform's reopening.[165][166]
In April 2024, Parlement Technologies, Parler's former parent, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, listing total assets and liabilities of between $10 million and $50 million.[167]

Parlor won't come back as it was, a social media platform as it has since been resurrected and morphed into a video-sharing platform known as PlayTV at the parler.com address, it even has a Google store app.

I was able to log on and my old profile information was still intact, minus any photos I had. I tried to download some videos I created, but they wanted mp4 or mov files only and my work was as avi files. However, that is Parler now, a conservative YouTube clone, rather than another "X".

I misspoke, the old Parler is back up too, and my account seems intact.

RE: Parler Dead for Three Years Still Haunts My Inbox - Michigan Swamp Buck - 11-21-2024

Yes, it's back up, but it's like a skeleton regarding who came back. Half the people I followed aren't back yet. If you want to join, they require an email address, or if you had an active account back in the day, you use the email address you used back then. I want to get involved at the new "ground floor" by starting some groups, but I can't figure out how to do that even though there are some groups on there.

Here is the thing about the new and improved Parler, a conservative free-speech social media platform, It opened back up just as Trump got re-elected. I predict that Parler will rise from the ashes left behind by the socialist Democrats like a phoenix in all its glory. I'm back on board and I want to ride that train out of the station.

I didn't want to do Truth Social as I felt it would be like a MAGA Trump Cult echo chamber. I bet Parler will give Truth a run for its money once the word gets out.

RE: Parler Dead for Three Years Still Haunts My Inbox - Michigan Swamp Buck - 11-23-2024

I just posted a video on Parler's PlayTV video platform. I produced a video of a late friend's band playing live at a music festival some 15 years ago. It was a five minute video and it was relatively easy to upload and make it available to the public.

I hope this version of Parler lasts.
