“This is scary,” the source said.
Audacy owns more than 220 stations across the country and in almost all major markets.

George Soros poised to control 220 radio stations via $400M Audacy bailout, stoking fears of progressive billionaire leading second-biggest US network during 2024 election

Quote:The debt buyout has alarmed conservatives, who have railed against Soros' multimillion dollar payouts to progressive political causes aligned with the Democratic Party.

One conservative X/Twitter account said the Hungarian-born financier will 'use the stations to attempt to influence voters in the coming elections'

'How long do you think that guy will allow all of those conservative radio stations to stay in operation?' added Stacy Washington, a right-of-center podcaster and commentator.

It's just the latest media investment for Soros, who became a bogeyman for US conservatives after throwing millions behind liberal District Attorneys' election campaigns.

if he does the FCC will shut him down. there is a thing called "reasonable access" rule and Equal Time Rule

Quote:Section 312 [47 U.S.C. §312] Administrative sanctions.

a)  The Commission may revoke any station license or construction permit –

(7)  for willful or repeated failure to allow reasonable access to or to permit purchase of reasonable amounts of time for the use of a broadcasting station, other than a non-commercial educational broadcast station, by a legally qualified candidate for Federal elective office on behalf of his candidacy.

(f)  For purposes of this section:

(1)  The term “willful”, when used with reference to the commission or omission of any act, means the conscious and deliberate commission or omission of such act, irrespective of any intent to violate any provision of this Act or any rule or regulation of the Commission authorized by this Act or by a treaty ratified by the United States.

(2)  The term “repeated”, when used with reference to the commission or omission of any act, means the commission or omission of such act more than once or, if such commission or omission is continuous, for more than one day.

Statutes and Rules on Candidate Appearances & Advertising

and i'm also pretty sure that includes free time given and rates for ads.

Quote:Political Ads
A television or radio station cannot censor a campaign ad. But the broadcaster is not required to give free air time to a candidate unless it has given free air time to a different candidate. Since 1971, television and radio stations have been required to make a "reasonable" amount of time available to candidates for federal office. And they must offer those ads at the rate offered the "most favored" advertiser.

This rule is the result of a challenge from then-President Jimmy Carter (D-GA in 1980. His campaign request to buy ads was rejected by the networks for being "too early." Both the FCC and the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Carter. This rule is now known as the "reasonable access" rule.

What Is The Equal Time Rule

Rumours tie Huma Abedin  and Soros Jr.

Curious.  Have heard a thing about her since she tiptoed  away from mishandling classified while Hillary's aid and BFF.

I thought that I-Heart Radio was the big radio monopoly network.

www.audacy.com

I think it was WBBM 780AM out of Chicago I used to catch the Ground Zero Radio Program after it got kicked off a local talk radio station on FM. I remember WWJ 950AM out of Detroit, but I can't seem to get any AM from Detroit too often. The rest aren't within my reception, I'm in I-Heart Radio country for the most part. Then there is PBS and a couple of independent religious stations.

Then again, how many people actually listen to broadcast radio, even car radios are satellite digital stations nowadays.

No.

The key is in the first line:

Quote:a)  The Commission may revoke any station license or construction permit –

Selective enforcement at agent discretion is built right into the law. They may revoke, or the may not. It all depends on whether the station is in alignment with FCC politics. Not FCC policies, FCC POLITICS.

Since the government bureaucracy has swung hard Left, we can see the direction that attempt would take. At this stage in the Great Game, it's a fair assumption that Left skates, and Right gets pounded on for anything or nothing. It's getting to the point that they don't even need an actual excuse - if they don't have one, they can make one up. They're the government - whose gonna argue with them and win? Pro-tip: when you're the one that makes the rules, you can never lose.

The only way a loss can possibly occur is if your opponent figures out what you are doing, and simply stops playing the game by the rules you are setting.

Hint, hint.

You trust the FCC to do what is says it will do , what it should do?! Ha! We can't trust any of these three-letter agencies (FDA, CIA,FBI etc ) all corrupted to their core. It's all theater to keep the masses believing their taxes are still 'hard at work' to protect the bs American dream. It's all horseshit.
