Regarding the second segment, in Kunar, where the guy tells about seeing a goatherd in NVD's whom he could not see without the NVD's, there is a movie from 2008 that tells a similar tale of a CIA/SpecOps team that was ambushed by guys they could see with NVD, but not see without it.
