POETRY - ANNEE - 10-25-2023

Hope I'm doing this right -- my first time new thread.  I just recently moved and came across some of my writings.  I write "one page stories" and some poetry.  I've only previously shared my writings with a small writers group.  This is a huge step for me.  Here goes . . .

WHEN DID I

When did I?
I remember soft skin, a smile, a laugh
Being held, comforted, and soothed
When did I first become aware of being in this world?

Crying, hunger, afraid
A warm suckling, tummy full
Sleepy now, cooing, sounds of a lullaby
When did I first become aware of hunger in my world?

Bright light, warmness on my skin
A blanket on grass, a breeze on my cheek
Laughter and swinging in the park
When did I first become aware of the sun and wind?

Run, skip, hop
Wheels turning, knees pumping peddles
Climbing jungle gyms
When did I discover the usefulness of limbs?

Giggling, running away
A shy smile, and shy eyes
Holding hands, a gentle squeeze
When did I discover young love?

Deep passion, longing
Strength in embrace
Joining together as one
When did I experience true love for the first time?

A feeling of oneness
Energy shared, united
You, me, we, simply are
When did I know all is connected?

Congrats on creating your first thread
Poetry and writing for some are as the need for bread
When the poetry juices get flowing
I'll be back with prose that will be self-realization sowing
Inner psyche workings will be known then I will roar
Through keyboard words strung together for meanings to soar

Very nice, with an introspective feeling.  That kind of poetry seems more sincere to me.

Since you said you were a new user, I don't think you should invite short stories here.  This particular forum is for poetry only.  There's already a forum for short stories.  I'm passionate about poetry - so I hope you understand.

That is beautiful!  Thanks for posting it.  I love Haiku.  (Haikus?)

Another 'on the fly' poem.

With options I have to not be here
I choose to be here to find my peer
Not to find queer or be queer, mind you
But to just be me in any sphere
If my abruptness will cause a tear
I can only offer reassurance
That I am a life traveler of sincere

RE: POETRY - ANNEE - 10-26-2023

For fun.  I have some short poems I crocheted with black & white letter beads into a long black wrap around chain necklace.

1.
Be of the mind
Be of the soul
Blend them in kind
Together whole

2.
Born of the sun
A seedling grows
Not to be done
Unless love flows

3.
Where I came from
I now leave behind
A trail of crumbs
I am of new mind

4.
The hunger to know
To know of the unknowing
To make them show
Where the hell we are going.

As the chemicals run through my brain
And make me a better human beain
So that I may relax and see what's what
I don't think I want to be a phat
Although I can be phat, I think I am who I am
And will remain me until I have a reason
To reset my direction

RE: POETRY - quintessentone - 10-29-2023

So I thought beginning a free online university course in poetry structure and such would give me the technical that I may lack in poetry writing. Well the instructor said that each and every piece we submit will be constructively? commented on by all the other students in the course. This struck me as not a good idea because how constructive can those comments be when we are all in the same 'lack of knowledge' boat. So, I decided not to go that route.

Interestingly enough, my son's partner gave me four poetry books at our last visit because I mentioned that another uni course I was taking 'know thyself' about learning about unconscious/preconscious workings made me think that to dredge up that which I buried in those parts of me, poetry may be the way.

Anyway, I'd like to share some of the poems from these books for all to enjoy.

I just opened up the book at random and here are the first two, as there are poems on each page.

You were the sound of wandering feet
and rainfall in the trees.
We thought,
god we always thought
there would be enough
time.
I was the moss
that held the imprint of your shoe,
and I loved my indentions.

I was nothing,
but you found me.

You were everything
and I hold proud
the marks you made.

(I love that poem above)

Next poem -

You
are the poem
I never knew
How to write
and this life
is the story
I have always
wanted
to tell.

RE: POETRY - quintessentone - 11-06-2023

Here's another random poem and poet. Enjoy.

Walt Whitman, 1919-1892 was praised by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

When I Heard the Learn'd Astronomer

When I heard the learn'd astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me,
When I was shown the charts, the diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,
How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick
Till rising and gliding out I wander'd off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look'd up in perfect silence at the stars.

LOL Made you look type of plot comes to mind.

Both the poem and the cover are really excellent.  Cheers for bringing these to my attention.

Kind regards,
