Poem - "Jupiter I" - HaarFager - 10-25-2023

Jupiter I

I looked through a telescope once,
and saw Jupiter and four of it’s moons.
It looked so lonely way out there.
I wish I was there.

Written in 1987.

Is that one of yours, HaarFager?

I can relate to it.  Sometimes I wish I could join them.  It always seems so simple out there.

I wouldn't want to embrace the loneliness out there, as isolation can do much harm.

My "cool telescope moment" was in a lab when we got use the observatory to see a trinary star system, and each star had a different color.

Cheers

I like isolation -- it's the "way out there" I'm not too keen on.

Is this a poetry thread?  Can I post a poem?

I'm not sure. Why not start a new poetry thread inviting poetry, this one didn't seem to ask anyone else to post their poetry. If you do, I'll join in because the poetry juices are flowing.

Yes.  So, I asked first. I'm fairly new to the format, not really sure how to start a new thread.

Yes, it's one of mine - thanks for asking!  When I post my poetry, I'll always include the date I wrote it - that's how you'll be able to tell.

I'm the same.  Even from a young age, I preferred being a loner.  It's just how I am.

And I'll bet you could keep yourself occupied for hours as a child.  That's how I was.  I remember playing with ordinary wooden blocks when I was about six.  Some of them were shaped like arches and columns and I would build what I pretended was old ancient Roman ruins.  I always had an active imagination.
