I've got an old account that is post banned, but I was still able to get get in to the account. I tried to login and it said I was using the wrong password.
I was able to search for and find the account and everything seems to still be there.
I was watching the shit show going down on ATS and was laughing away. I'm glad I jumped that ship when I did.
The fact that the mods are locked out is being taken full advantage of on there right now. It's kind of funny imo.

I had access as a member because I hadn't logged out. However, signatures were missing from everyone's profiles. I couldn't post anything or start a thread. The wall on the profile was gone, no comments there, only an error message.
I was able to do stuff like change my password and email address in my profile, but I couldn't find a way to log in or out, so I used CCleaner to make a fresh start.
I then had to log in to ATS and both my old and new password wouldn't get me back in. I should have left well enough alone, but if I can't reply or create a thread, screw it.
So, I guess I'll be here more.

That's interesting, that neither your old or your NEW password for the old account would work. Maybe nothing got deleted - maybe a connection was broken somewhere. The old accounts are still there, but no one can access them. New accounts work, but changed passwords on old accounts don't. Maybe a new database has started with the new accounts and new passwords, and the old login database is "there", but disconnected because a new one has been started.
There's always a chance that a bad actor set all that up in order to glean login info for users (many would just use the same old password on newly created accounts), and they are gathering data from the new accounts for future targeting or account takeovers.

Im betting the same person who PRETENDED to be ASTRO. i HOPE the person or persons who deleted the passwords and e mails is killed in a horroble way one day. IF they were on fire in front of me saying help me i wouldnt piss on them to put them out.
So does ANYON know a way to recover out ACCESS to our profiles? Because if this went on 1 time,its gonna happen again unless the problems fixed.

Anything we could say over here would be pure speculation at this point, and the very first speculation would be the assumption that the owner can even get in to the back end. There is a chance they can't, so we don't know. Recently, for example, a vulnerability was found in Cisco equipment that allows anyone to enter at a top level and make back end changes.. they could, for example, delete all owner and admin access to their own equipment, and lock it down from them. We don't know that is what happened, but we don't know it isn't, either. we just don't know what happened, so anything we say in that regard would be pure speculation at this point.

Hello first! Long time no visit after the hack that happened to old RN. I am on discord mainly since both ATS and RN had the troubles in the last two years.
I had similar thought last evening. In a C# programming course, I learned passwords are always encrypted stored (at best) and then the password typed by the user on login is also encrypted with the same method and then compared. So the broken login function could be a bad actors way to make people reset passwords and fish for the clear text passwords. To use them in combination with the email stored and or fish for more email addresses and pw combinations.
Knowing a bit C#, there would be ways to make it invisible to the users. By catching the password in the program before the encryption part, save it to another hidden data table and let the users login as normal. Just kill their login status as "not logged in" so everyone has to log in again and taddaaa....
Strategically, breaking old logins from a bad actor makes no sense other than to boast. Maybe it's a bone thrown by the bad actor to only punish "the stupid ones" and have some kind of twisted moral balance.
Or just a technical issue and not a bad actor at all.

Nope just the usual trolls from before the hack job or reset or whatever and there is moderation, I'm just not sure what the goal of the type of moderation being used is yet. How can you talk about moral preachers when you and others left because of the lack of common manners, isn't that right?

I don't suppose I know what that means. I've never heard the term before.
Generally most people self moderate and try to act very similarly online as in real life, but maybe just a little more open about what we actually think that perhaps we may not say if the person were in front of us.
I do give my opinion more online I think? But I'm pretty darn opinionated in real life so my online personality is still the same... Lol.
I think most just are who we are .. it's the trolls that get me... What are they in real life but the lazy co-workers you hope get fired... Lol...
