The Delphi Murders Mystery - EndtheMadnessNow - 09-24-2023

You may have heard of this sensational horrid case...

I remember this case when it first broke, but then forgot all about it over the years till I noticed some armchair cold case detective was recently posting about it. And that peaked my curiosity in some twisted strange way as some "true crime" stories are in fact captivating and I guess in part to that time of spooky season is once again nearly upon us.

Backstory::
On February 14, 2017, the bodies of Abigail Williams (June 23, 2003 – February 13, 2017) and Liberty German (December 27, 2002 – February 13, 2017) were discovered near the Monon High Bridge Trail, part of the Delphi Historic Trails in Delphi, Indiana, after the girls had disappeared from that trail the previous day. The murders have received extensive media coverage, in part due to video and audio recordings released by law enforcement that came from German's smartphone, which recorded an individual believed to be the killer.

WARNING: some excerpts below may distress you. This is not a Halloween horror story, though it reads like one.

Quote:Attorneys representing Richard Allen, the man charged with killing Abigail Williams and Liberty German in Delphi, Indiana, in 2017, filed court documents on Monday asserting the girls died in a "ritualistic sacrifice" by white nationalists who practice a Norse pagan religion.

Defense attorneys Andrew J. Baldwin and Bradley A. Rozzi revealed the shocking claims in a 136-page memorandum, obtained by USA Today, which they said supports Allen's request for a hearing to contest the validity of a search warrant. The filing asserted that several white nationalists practicing the religion Odinism "ritualistically sacrificed" the girls, and nothing liked Allen to Odinism or any religious cult.

Odinisim, according to the Anti-Defamation League, is a term frequently given to a racist variant of the Norse pagan religion known as Asatru -- a religious sect that attempts to revive ancient Norse religious beliefs and practices of pre-Christian Europe.

Evidence found at the crime scene consisted of symbols in the form of runes made up of sticks and fashioned with tree branches, which defense attorneys said were obvious signatures left behind by Odinites.
...
Allen, 52, a drugstore worker who had been living in the same small community where the teens resided, was arrested on murder charges in Oct. 2022. Insisting their client is innocent, the defense attorneys stated that it wasn't plausible that one person was responsible for the murders of Libby and Abby, listing 92 reasons in support of their claim.

Kline reminds me of that sick child killer in "Black Bird" (2022) series.

Odinists? White nationalists?? Victims: Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14. The name "Liberty German"???

Note: Not a horror movie script. After reading through this 136 page Court filing doc (lamestream media deleted) my jaw did drop to the floor.

Found a copy:

STATE OF INDIANA v. RICHARD ALLEN

Reading the detailed Crime Scene description gave me chills up my spine and a flashback to the "True Detective" season 1 show.

The state troopers involved in the Abigail Williams/Liberty German case supposedly dismissed the crime's overt ties to ritual murder/Odinism early on due to the expertise of a Purdue professor. The defense asked them to name the prof or his department; they literally cannot do so:

Odinite Brad Holder, the father of Abby Williams’ boyfriend before her death, posted images on his FB alluding to both the confidential crime scene and the ritual murder it seems to depict. The concern was brought to state troopers by a private citizen and then dismissed.

Many of these disturbing allusions posted by Holder to the crime scene were NOT turned over to the defense. Then, even worse, AFTER dismissing Holder as a suspect, his fellow Odinite associate, Elvis Fields, expressed concern to LE that his spit would be found on one of the girls.

These are just 1/4 of the the tasks that the man indicted, would’ve had to perform "alone" in, generously, just under an hour and a half, but likely less. At his deposition, Sheriff Liggett testified under oath he believes it is possible. However, off the record, he thinks it’s not possible.

The girls were ritualistically posed with *PRE-CUT* branches, one nude and blood-spattered, one re-clothed and bloodless. A symbol resembling the rune "Ansuz," meaning Odin, had been painted on a nearby tree with the blood of Libby, the victim left nude and bloodied. This filing is one of the most stomach-churning accounts of ritual'ist murder and "lone wolf" obfuscation I have read about in recent times, if it is all true (it's a defense brief so-grain of salt). The crime scene alone is horrific. The details are crazy wild symbolic ritual murder scene like out of a crime horror movie.

The correctional guards in Richard Allen’s prison were wearing these patches. Literally wearing them. What do you even say to that?

The prison guards intimidating Allen were posting runes to Odin on Facebook.

Also wild: the supposed timeline presented by LE where Allen was seen in a blue jacket ~2pm, then just after 4 in that jacket “muddy and bloodied”, just didn’t happen...the 2pm man was described as in his 20s w poofy hair, the 4pm man had a tan jacket, was not bloody. (pages 113-117)

Then, the car seen after 2pm in the lot near the scene, which was Allen’s black Ford Focus according to the search warrant, was not only not a Ford Focus...it was not black. (pages 113-114)

Are there any asatru churches in Indiana?

Apparently so, one of the men implicated in this brief is an Asatru pastor.

The Asatru Folk Assembly (AFA) is labeled as a white supremacist international Ásatrú organization. Originally established as the Viking Brotherhood in 1969.

Quote:What we know about the Delphi murders (Sept 20, 2023)

However, shocking new details about the murders came to light in a search warrant application obtained by podcast The Murder Sheet and shared with The Independent back in 2022.

The warrant, filed by an FBI agent investigating the murders back in 2017 and partly redacted, was to carry out a search on the home of a local man Ronald Logan.

In it, the agent revealed that the girls had lost “a lot” of blood during their deaths and that their killer is believed to have moved and staged their bodies, before taking some sort of souvenir from the scene.

For the first time, the warrant also revealed that the teenagers had been killed by some type of weapon. The word for the weapon was redacted in the document.

...

The evidence against Richard Allen

The affidavit released on 29 November revealed prosecutors had tied Mr Allen to a bullet found at the scene of the murder.

The document states that ballistics confirmed that an unspent .40 caliber round found close to the bodies of the teenage victims had come from a Sig Sauer Model P226, belonging to Mr Allen.

The Sig Sauer Model P226, which the suspect owned since 2001, was found during a search of Mr Allen’s home last month.

Both the 50-year-old local man and his wife Kathy allegedly confirmed that he was the only person with access to the firearm.

The affidavit also revealed that Mr Allen spoke with investigators at least twice, including in 2017 – confirming that he was on police radar at the time of the murders.

In the 2017 interview, Mr Allen had confessed to being on the Monon High Bridge Trail on the afternoon of 13 February – placing him on the scene at the same day and time that the victims went on their fateful walk.

At the time, he denied any involvement in the murders and insisted he had never seen the two girls that day.

In another interview on 13 October 2022, Mr Allen had “no explanation” as to how the spent bullet ended up in between the bodies of the two teenage victims, the affidavit states.

The accused killer said he had “not been on the property where the unspent round was found, that he did not know the property owner, and that he had no explanation as to why a round cycled through his firearm would be at that location,” it says. The property owner – Ron Logan – was also previously tied to the case. He died in 2020.

Investigators now believe Mr Allen to be the “Bridge Guy”.

What has Richard Allen said?

A trove of 118 court documents was unsealed on 28 June, revealing the 50-year-old local CVS worker confessed to the murders to his wife Kathy Allen while behind bars at the Westville Correctional Facility.

In the 3 April phone call, Mr Allen allegedly admitted “several times” that he carried out the brutal murders.

“Investigators had the phone call transcribed and the transcription confirms that Richard M. Allen admits that he committed the murders of Abigail Williams and Liberty German,” the documents read.

Meanwhile, the FBI still seeking info (link includes excerpt video from Libby's smartphone)

Richard Allen's trial date is 8 January 2024.

An obfuscated case of ritual cult murders or something else going on? Per usual in these clown horror times the Defense may be twisting facts for sensationalism and the The "Odinism" narrative is probably just one of many pushed over the years. On the other hand, lying cops is certainly not unheard of in similar cases.

Probably have to wait for a Netflix docu based on a forthcoming 'Oracle of Delphi & Ásatrú The Pagan Murder Mystery' novel. Else, some real "True Detectives".
