At least 630 dead as powerful earthquake hits Morocco near Marrakesh - 727Sky - 09-09-2023
The strength of the quake has been reported to be around a Magnitude 7 and as expected the damage is severe. Hopefully rescue teams can get the survivors out of the ruble before it is to late.

Well, there's a country you rarely ever hear anything about until a natural (?) disaster hits. Rare location for such a powerful EQ according to Ben Davidson (@SunWeatherMan).
According to AFP News Agency about an hour ago, more than 1,300 people killed and injured at least another 1,800.
