I'm Scared Of My Electronic Devices - kdog - 08-15-2023
So, we have an Amazon Studio , a decent music device with Alexa. I renamed it computer so that is what it answers to when requesting playlists and weather alerts.
When ever I am watching one of my Star Trek series or movies and they ask the computer to initiate self destruct sequence, my studio starts counting down and I have to stop it because I am afraid what is going to happen.
Not to mention it ignores my wife sometimes and I have to ask it like it's some jealous girlfriend or something.
Just a minute ago it seem to get in an argument with my wife and she threaten to unplug it if it didn't shut up .
Then there is our roomba , the little round robotic vacuum that I renamed Terminator. He is an asshole . Sometimes he does a great job and sometimes he just does a small area and re-docks on the charger.
This is how it all begins, trusting AI a little bit at a time until they have full control.
I might just unplug them all !

I'm from South Carolina but moved to the midwest when I was 13 . Started to lose my accent the moved back down there after 8 years. After 10 years back home, moved to Kentucky for the last 23 years. My accent changes on who I am around for a few days. My wife is from south east Texas and her accent changes because she has been with me for almost 10 years. Sometimes I sound like her accent, sometimes I sound like hers. That alexa bitch responds to my voice more then hers.

Did we ever tell you what happened when @"Ninurta" and I used to talk on the phone?
Whenever we would talk on the phone we would hear tell-tale signs of someone listening, periodic clicking, the occasional giggle at the right time..
Once we were doing the sex thing on the phone and I commented on someone's penis size or something similar and I swear whoever was listening about fell out of their chair laughing.
With the initial clicking and whatnot we were pretty open about knowing they were listening so they became more open with their spying..
Crazy world. The lettered agencies really didn't like us two getting married... But we gave them great entertainment, screw them... Lol

Before me and littled got physically involved after a long distance relationship, if they were spying on us, they definitely got a video show worthy of porn status on skype !

Hahaha... See, I'm much more careful about people having pictures of me... Lol. DH's file on me is double (or maybe triple) encrypted - and next to none were anything we did apart.

I've been working with this perverted buddy of mine, everything is sexual innuendo when we BS. So, I brought up the topic of Amish women and how I should write a song about that, so he pulls up his phone and starts searching around about Amish women and porn, escort services, and what have you. I had my phone in my pocket and it was active while he used his phone for the search. After a few yucks and talk about writing a song about Amish women, we got back to work.
That night after work, when I got online with my desktop, I went to youtube music to listen to some music and in the list of suggested selections was Weird Al Yanovitch's song "Amish Paradise" that I watched (of course). It covered the Amish pretty well, so I tabled the idea of writing a song myself.
But how had any of my selections on youtube indicate this particular song suggestion? I hadn't searched it on my phone or at home. Plus the desktop was using my registered youtube profile, while my phone doesn't use that, I never signed in on it. Either the AI caught on to my thoughts via my buddy's smartphone use at work or somehow the music I listen to kind of danced around that idea and came up with that suggestion all on its own.

It's triple encrypted. Once forward, next run backwards, third run forwards again, using a "cascade encryption". Three different encryption algorithms, from two different governments and one independent algorithm. 2304 bit encryption key. That way, if they "break" one algorithm, the other two are still on the job. It's a stronger scheme than the US government requires for "top secret" data.
It takes almost 24 hours to encrypt an entire 4 Terabyte hard drive with that scheme, but once encrypted, it can be used as a "container", opened at will and just the current material encrypted into it, which goes much faster. that way, the entire drive is encrypted, and no one can tell which bytes are real data, and which are just filler data without the key. It goes without saying that the key is not recorded anywhere, not even in the encrypted file itself, so that A) no one can recover it, and B) I cannot be forced to give it up to anyone. It only lives in my mind, and duress tends to make that stop working.
The encryption software is not "domestic", so no US, Russian, or Chinese backdoors in it. The source code is open, and has been thoroughly vetted and re-checked for backdoors, and to date none have been found.
Regarding Skype, I stopped using it, even for work, when Microsoft bought it out and imposed "Cortana" on everyone with no way to get rid of her. I don't need that sort of spyware in my life.
In 2017, I caught my cell phone "turning on" it's microphone all by it's lonesome. It did that twice, the second time it was on for a couple hours, just sitting there and listening to me. There was no third time - I "degoogled" it, and that caused it to stop just sitting there and eavesdropping.
No Alexa, no Cortana, no Siri, and no Windows 10 or 11 spyware in this house.
